Our Return to Normal (or better than normal!)

Posted by Rebecca Ellis on

Well - who would have thought we would still be here, locked down more than a year later! The 23rd March 2020 will be forever embedded in my memory.

This year has bought us some crazy times that we never ever thought we would experience, worry we didn’t think we would have to endure and a big fat pause button that Boris still has his finger on! (Rightly so...)

I have to say, when I look back at 2020, I feel that it has taught me a lot. I have always been very grateful for what I have but I have never felt as lucky as I do right now. Although my business of over 16 years has spent a year resting we are on our way back and we will be stronger and more resilient than ever before.

Our core team is all still in place which I am so grateful for and we have all our beautiful couples ready and waiting to get married, even after some have moved dates up to 6 times!!!

Luckily, all the fabulous hotels, restaurants and venues that we create all of our glorious installations in are ready and waiting to open and we are so looking forward to being back where we belong bringing bountiful blooms to all our wonderful clients.

It certainly hasn’t been an easy ride and some of us have suffered ill health, loss and dreadful insecurity but we are still standing!

I asked the team what were some of the things that they were looking forward to the most when we get back to ‘better’!! and this was what they had to say...

Frankie Rogers - Director of Operations

“I can’t wait to get back to work and be with the gang! I have missed all the buzz of the workshop and socialising with the team. It’s going to be wonderful for us all to be together again!”

“I can’t wait to see all my lovely Lily’s friends when we get back to work and of course being surrounded by beautiful, fragrant, gorgeous flowers will be amazing! How I have missed them! I’m really looking forward to hugging my mum and brother, treating myself to a lovely meal with my family, going to a music festival and the cinema. The best thing though will be being able to do the things we love, freely and without fear, I cant wait!”
Lindy Huckstep - Senior Florist

“Well, I am looking forward to getting back in the workshop and finding my creative side again. It will be so lovely to interact with the girls, just having a laugh, female company is the best!!!
Outside work socialising, eating out and getting out in our camper are high up on the list and exploring some of our lovely countryside x”
Stevi Faires - Florist

“As lockdown eases I am looking forward to being able to get back to work with my favourite colleague - Nutmeg! I cannot wait to get my hands on flowers again and be involved in making peoples weddings so special.”
Rebecca Ellis - Managing Director

“I am looking forward to so much! Family parties, meals out, going to the cinema, Cornwall with my lovely husband and my boy walking Nutmeg on the beach and lots of hugs! With regard to Lilys Flowers, I cant wait to see abundance - buckets and buckets of flowers in all fabulous colours, lots of people in the workshop and the hustle and bustle of a busy summer season. I have been working on lots of exciting ideas in lockdown and I cant wait to tell you all about them, but all in good time.”
So that’s us! My gorgeous core team and what a lovely bunch they all are, I’ve missed them all so much, just little snippets here and there of their lovely faces. A bouquet drop or a vase make up but nothing more.
We are actually recruiting freelance florists for the summer. So, if you are a qualified and/or experienced florist and you are looking to be part of a friendly and busy team then get in touch. It would be great to meet you.
Let the good times roll!
